We Are Made Up of Our Surroundings

So much of what we are made up of comes from the world that surrounds us every day.

Something to ponder and create artwork, writing, or a meditative experience around:

If we are around 60+% water, where does that water come from and where does it go? Specifically, we give off water vapor, and are constantly shedding water through our digestive process and our skin. We need to replenish the water into our bodies that we are constantly shedding. Where do we get that water? Is it from around where we live, or from somewhere else? Specifically, what I’m getting at are we are what we put into ourselves. So…If we put into ourselves water from around where we live, we physically (and chemically) are made up of the essence of where we live. If that water comes from somewhere else, we physically (and chemically) are made up from the composite of where that water comes from.

All of this refers to just around 60+% of us – we could ponder the other 40% while including minerals, bacteria, plants, animals, and the like.

So, what are we when we are looking at ourselves in the mirror? Scientifically, we can separate out the percentages of what makes us up, but we are waaaaaay more than the sum of any parts that we are made of. Yet here we are. If we consume locally, we very well could be a living and breathing part of the land, water, and organisms that we interact with every day!

As living beings made up from the elements around us, how would you describe the mystical essence in all of us that brings those elements to life?
